Country Music Explosion:Thanks for doing this interview,Let's first start off by giving us a little background of your life,then we can proceed to the rest of the interview

Jeremy Rodgers:I grew up in Del City, a suburb of OKC. Life at that time was easier, hanging out with my friends and family, playing football, etc.... but then I graduated from Del City High School and real life began, lol.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:When did you start writing about music—and what or who were your early passions and influences?

Jeremy Rodgers:I started early "writing" songs. I was influenced by everything around me, church, school, being grounded, lol. I can't really say that I had songwriter influence, but more like entertainers, like Elvis Presley. I listened to a variety of music like 50s and 60s, 80s pop, a little country, and rock/metal.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:What are your main impulses to write music?

Jeremy Rodgers:I have a new song I just wrote called "Heroes In Boots" dedicated to the US military you can find the acoustic version on my Facebook page and YouTube. I generally write about what would matter to any Oklahoma boy.....my wife, how I was raised, the loss of mother and father, the situation between my ex wife and I, etc.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:What do you personally consider to be the incisive moments and pieces in your songwriting and/or career?

Jeremy Rodgers:I have always felt this was God's direction for my life, but the first performance of one of my original songs, the way the crowd reacted, I knew I was on the right track.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:How would you describe and rate the music scene of the city/state you are currently living in and how important is it in terms of what you're actually writing about?

Jeremy Rodgers:The music scene in Oklahoma is now and has always been booming. So many great artists have emerged. It is very important because there are times I will find something to write about it.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:What do you usually start with when working on a new Music?

Jeremy Rodgers:It depends, a lot of times I will get inspired by something and begin with the words, but other times I will just fiddle around on the guitar and come up with a melody.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Tell us a bit about the selection process for deciding on what to write about, please. What sources will you draw from for research purposes and how much time goes into research, information gathering and fact-checking in general?

Jeremy Rodgers:For me, there really isn't a selection process, I write about what is motivating me at that particular time. I have used Google to learn more about a certain subject if it's something that I don't know a lot about.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Music-sharing sites and blogs as well as a flood of releases in general are presenting both listeners and artists with challenging questions. What's your view on the value of music today?

Jeremy Rodgers:I think value has been lost. There isn't a whole lot of storytelling anymore. I can turn on the radio and hear the same song with different words several times in a row. Songs about heading to the lake/river, dropping the tailgate, starting a bonfire, partying with someone they just met. I prefer when music would tell a story.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:When and why did you start playing Music and/or songwriting?

Jeremy Rodgers:Ever since I was kid I knew this was w jg at I wanted to do. While other boys dreamed of being a professional athlete, fireman, or police officer, I was dreaming of being on stage with the spotlight on me.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Which instruments do you play?

Jeremy Rodgers:I mainly just sing, but I kind of play the guitar too.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:What was the first tune(s) you learned?

Jeremy Rodgers:"Every Rose Has It's Thorn" - Poison
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Is your family musical?

Jeremy Rodgers:Yes, very much so. The godfather of country, Jimmie Rodgers, is a great-grandfather. My grandpa used to sing, my brother plays drums, my nephews play guitar, another nephew also plays drums, one of my nieces sings, and my son has taken up singing.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?

Jeremy Rodgers:There are so many to list, lol. I love Chris Ledoux for his lyrics of real life and stage presence, Elvis Presley for his singing style, Craig Morgan and KISS for the way they give back to the troops, Justin Moore for his style.......there is just too many.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Which famous musicians have you learned from?

Jeremy Rodgers:Same as who I admire.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighborhood or town?

Jeremy Rodgers:They date back to when I was kid and was in church choir and school plays.....they pretty much sealed the deal for me. I also think fondly on a lot of the shows I have done such as The Oklahoma Centennial Rodeo Opry and The Oklahoma State Fair.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Were you influenced by old records & tapes? Which ones?

====================================================
Country Music Explosion:Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?

Jeremy Rodgers:At times, but then I just breathe, or do some form of cardio, like jumping jacks, to get the heart rate up and blood flow going. I usually calm down right before going on stage.
====================================================
Country Music Explosion:How often and for how long do you practice?

Jeremy Rodgers:The band and I get about 2 hours a week to practice. I personally practice at least 5 hours on my own time.
